An investigation has been launched after a man was injured while working
on site for a prominent stage building firm in Pennsylvania. Accidents
that occur on the job can have devastating consequences for the
injured individuals, and this incident was no exception. The man suffered a serious injury
when a large pipe became loose while being lifted by machinery, causing
it to fall on top of him.
The man was injured while working for Mountain Productions, a company that
has provided staging for many high profile events. Pennsylvania ambulance
and fire crews were called to the worksite, and the injured man was rushed
to hospital for emergency treatment.
Spokespeople for the city declined to release the name of the injured man
or to discuss the extent of his injuries. Mountain Productions also declined
to comment on the incident. However, 911 reports suggest that the man
may have lost a leg in the accident. A federal Occupational Safety and
Health Administration investigation has begun to determine the cause.
Accidents like these are all too common. For those injured at work, rebuilding
their lives afterward can be a difficult and lengthy process. They may
be facing expensive hospital bills and extended time off work, during
which they may not be paid.
In these situations, the injured worker may be entitled to workers'
compensation benefits. The Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Act
provides a way for injured workers to receive benefits to help cover hospital
costs and lost wages. Filing for workers' compensation can be a complicated
process. If you feel that you are entitled to workers' compensation
benefits, seeking experienced legal advice may be beneficial.
