22 people have been arrested and face
drug charges after an extensive drug bust in Pennsylvania. The supposed drug operation
occurred in the Blair Country area. The drug charges were filed after
the accumulation of an extensive nine-month investigation by law enforcement.
Pennsylvania police officers have charged these 22 people for various crimes
related to selling drugs, believed to include heroin, cocaine, bath salts
and other street drugs. Police say that officers purchased some of these
drugs while undercover. Additionally, law enforcement claims that the
investigation and drug bust was focused on important drug dealers in the
area, including those of middle to upper level importance.
One of the men connected to the drug bust is already serving a jail sentence
because of a murder that happened last year. Over a dozen of those who
were arrested have a criminal record from previous incidents. While police
have listed the names of those who have been arrested, specific evidence
connecting these individuals to the drug ring has not been released. Those
facing these charges can enlist individual legal counsel to fight the
charges, and while they have been arrested, they must be presumed innocent
unless they are proved guilty.
Drug charges could result in detrimental consequences that can include
jail time, fines and other penalties. The consequences may depend upon
the criminal history of each individual. They can choose, just like any
other defendant facing criminal charges, to fight through the entire court
process. Another defense option could include seeking a plea agreement
that would secure the lowest possible fines and penalties.
