The sweetest place on earth is how Hershey's Chocolate World and the
neighboring Hersheypark amusement complex bills itself. While it is a
popular destination for summer thrill seekers and chocolate aficionados,
there may at times be the intrusion of the real world of human error.
One man who was employed by the school founded by Milton Hershey, was
recently arrested on
gun chargesafter he surrendered himself to Pennsylvania authorities.
The 28-year-old man had recently been terminated from his position with
the Milton Hershey School, a private institution designated for students
from low-income families. The man was let go after a student of the co-ed
facility allegedly discovered a small camera in one of the restroom and
shower areas. Officials did not state if the man had actually placed the
equipment there. It is also unknown what position the man held with the school.
Officers assigned to that town responded to the call from school personnel.
A later search of the man's residence allegedly led to the discovery
of three weapons for which he is now facing charges. It is unclear as
to why the man wound up surrendering to the Lancaster Police Department
when it was the Derry Township Department that conducted the search of
The former employee has been arraigned on gun charges for the weapons he
allegedly had on school grounds. All three charges are misdemeanors and
could carry a jail term of two to five years, depending on whether it
is a first or second degree charge, as well as possible monetary punishment
in the form of fines. This man may exercise his rights under Pennsylvania
laws to challenge the validity and relevance of the evidence that government
prosecutors seek to use against him.
