One man in Pennsylvania was recently accused of a property crime that allegedly
took place in December. According to officials, the charges are linked
to an attempted robbery that occurred in a grocery store parking lot.
The incident reportedly took place shortly after 5 p.m. on a Saturday.
Police said a 27-year-old man tried to snatch the purse of a woman outside
the store while she was putting groceries into a vehicle. The purse was
hanging on her shoulder. Police reported that while the man struggled
with the woman for the purse, the woman ended up falling and suffering
The man was also previously charged with
theftinvolving merchandise from a Walmart store as well as a Boscov store. He
was additionally charged in late December for possessing heroin. As last
report, the man was being held in a county prison.
Although the community might label the man as a robber and a thief, he
is presumed innocent in the justice system unless it can be proved that
he actually committed the crimes of robbery and theft. Prosecutors have
to prove his charges beyond a reasonable doubt in order for the man to
be convicted. The man's criminal defense will likely closely assess
the evidence that the prosecutors intend to offer in criminal court in
support of the charges filed against him. The criminal defense is also
responsible for ensuring that the man's rights are protected at all
stages of the Pennsylvania criminal proceeding while seeking the most
favorable result attainable.
