When individuals in Pennsylvania are injured at work, this can put both emotional and financial stress on them and their families. Fortunately, workers’ compensation insurance is designed to help people who have suffered workplace injuries. One man in a recent out-of-state case was injured while working on trees for a logging company.
Authorities were notified of the accident shortly after 9:45 a.m. on a Tuesday. The accident occurred when a worker, 53, was sawing down trees. A piece that fell from the tree in the wooded area suddenly struck the worker.
When crews arrived at the accident scene, they found the logger lying on his back. The man was complaining of pain in his back as well as numbness in his legs. He was put on a board used to stabilize injury victims and was removed from the woods using an ATV. The man was then taken by helicopter to a hospital, where his injuries were deemed not to be life-threatening.
It is necessary for companies in Pennsylvania to purchase workers’ compensation insurance, which provides benefits to workers who suffer workplace injuries. These benefits can help to provide injury victims with a financial safety net while they are unable to work, thus enabling them to focus primarily on healing. Workers’ compensation insurance also ensures that injured employees obtain the medical treatment required to heal as quickly as possible. People who have been injured on the job may rightfully seek all of the benefits to which they are entitled, with proper legal guidance.
