One routine traffic stop in Pennsylvania led to one woman’s arrest for allegedly committing drug-related crimes. The arrest on drug charges took place on a recent Saturday. It occurred around 10:30 p.m.
Police said they stopped a 25-year-old woman who was driving a car that night. The woman showed signs of being intoxicated while she conversed with the police. Authorities then arrested her.
Police at the scene of the traffic stop said she possessed a significant amount of marijuana candy, and some of the candy was packaged to be sold individually. The woman was transported to a medical center and submitted to a blood draw. She now faces criminal charges of driving under the influence as well as possessing a drug and intending to deliver it.
Anyone in Pennsylvania who faces drug charges is always presumed innocent unless prosecutors can prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt; only then can the person be convicted in a court of law. People believed to have committed drug crimes have the right to proceed directly to trial to fight these accusations, or, if applicable, they may take advantage of a plea deal given to them by prosecutors. A plea deal might be the preferred choice in that it may result in lesser charges or a lighter sentence from the court. Defense counsel will pursue an outcome that is in the accused person’s best interests and make sure that all of the person’s rights are upheld at all stages of the criminal proceeding.
